Correct. It's easy for a map maker to use the PhAT tool to implement physics this way. Then a Kismet hit-event to start it all, a few emitters for effects and a destructable mesh and you're done.

There's so much drama over this demo! I like to indulge myself in said drama. I'd like to bathe in it and have an enema with it. :-[

To me it seems they've degraded their GE system to child-level, not being able to jump and grab something is an example of that. Pitty.

Perhaps we have to add a SP mode to PS anyway, so we can have the real SC feeling again.

No.
Sam Fisher died in unknown circumstances, in the bolivian jungle three days after the end of CT.
Because:
DA sucked, and C is not SC anymore.

DA wasn't that bad. I actually liked the SP, for the most part. It was really fun playing through full stealth. Multiplayer is still fun to jump on every now and then. One thing they did amazing in DA's MP is the maps.

Lennard,
I'll contact Ironside this weekend. Who else do we need voice over work from?

Hahaha the trap idea reminds me of getting that elusive Aquarius Pirates room box drop kill.  Good times.

It was fun to go through full stealth especially on the realistic mode.  Single player was pretty good but the multiplayer just threw me for a loop.  I was expecting this amazing, refined SvM experience.  All I got was a laggy, terrible, buggy watered down experience.  But hey, at least the maps were good!  lol

Splinter Cell Conviction just got a 9.3 on IGN.  Here is a real quote from the video review: "It's nothing like the previous splinter cell games, and that's a good thing."

I mean, for real dude?

Good way do destroy a franchise for people that actually liked it.

What I find wrong about that statement is that it leaves the franchise with no room to grow. You could look just at Nintendo's catalog of long running series:

-Mario:
Actually derived from Donkey Kong, turned into a versus game (The one you play if you select the same level on Super Mario 3), turned into Super Mario Bros/World, changed into 3D, now recently heading back to the likes of older iterations.

-Metroid:
2D to 3D. 3D to the upcoming game of 2.5D.

-Zelda
2nd game was more RPG. Changed to 3D. Focused on Side Quests for Majora's Mask. Changed art style completely for Wind Waker, plus added a lot of elements. Now is back to it's Ocarina-like goodness though now you are a wolf.

-Donkey Kong
Small arcade game(s), changed to pretty much Mario but with animals, went 3D and nobody really cared. Hasn't popped up since.

Main Point:

Companies should stretch the bounds of their franchise to, at the very least, give a little variety to their community. If you keep doing the same thing over and over and over again you end up in a situation where everything is judged on a SUPER CRITICAL level.

DA's SP comes to mind. It's just like the other games, but people are hesitant to say it was good. Nothing says that ALL SC games from now on are going to be in the same vein as Conviction, but as least there is a new game to play and not ALL of it's features are gone (Stealth is indeed still in play). SC6 could be CT2. Who knows ;D

I loved Donkey Kong in 3D.  That game was amazing.  It got really high scores too I think.  What do you mean no one cared?

The game is not designed for stealth but you can still play it that way.  Therefore, it is not a stealth game.  It's like on Call of Duty.  The only thing I ever do on that game anymore is use a riot shield and go prone so that I look like a turtle.  The game is not designed to be a turtle simulator but I can still play that way.  It's not a turtle game.

If you can do something but it is unorthodox to do that then it is not that kind of game.  It is unorthodox to go full stealth in Conviction so it is not a stealth game.  I'd rather not try to go against the system so that I can still get half a chubby for "ghosting" a map.   It's like a game of Fallout 3 or Oblivion.  Games that have stealth elements but are not designed for it.  The "stealth is still there" but it would be retarded to use it as a stealth game.

I say no one cared for Donkey Kong because... They've lacked on making a new one Since Donkey Kong 64. It's much the same argument that got brought up when SvM's popularity was being debated and a, "Small yet loyal fanbase" doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things.

Stealth is still a huge part of the gameplay though, just in a different direction. More of a, "Kill everyone before they can react". Instead of previous Splinter Cells where it was, "Take people out without anyone seeing you".

Unlike Oblivion or Fallout 3 (Redundant in my eyes) where Stealth is gone once you don't instantly kill someone. Conviction relies and assumes you are using "Stealth" (Not being seen) till the point you screw up. They made it more applicable for you to actually shoot your way out of a situation, but just because they did that doesn't mean the main focus is Run N' Gun.

Oh, hey. Cronky's mindlessly defending ideas just because they're new, even though they're shit.

Nothing new here I guess!

"small yet loyal fanbase doesn't mean anything".  Really?  Of course I understand why they did what they did, they believe they can get more money, but it doesn't make it a good decision for the future of the franchise.  You as a consumer should care more about the product you receive than the money they make.

Stealth is not a huge part of the gameplay.  It is now just a tool, rather than the game style.  Previously, Sam would kill so that he could stay hidden, and now he hides so that he can continue to kill.

Regardless of what you say, "Oh it fits the storyline or the mood of Sam" I don't care.  It's not the direction the game should go.  If the natural evolution of stealth games is to become more action oriented, why aren't we really seeing action games become more stealth oriented?  Equilibrium is not in the middle, it's far over to the action side of things.  Why?  Mindless consumers wanting explosions rather than thinking games.  It's sad to see it affecting Splinter Cell among the other Ubisoft titles.

Makes more money = smart decision. Get over it
