I also disagree, I've 100% ghosted CT and DA on expert...

I don't mean that you can't avoid confrontation in that sense, I mean that the Splinter Cell games have always forced you to interrogate people, knock out certain people, and things like that. If you along with Lennard and frvge had read my post, you may have understood that ;).

Little Baby PiG

conviction  is going to suck, ubisoft has ruined the franchise and it will die after conviction...they should take the words splinter cell out of the title, because this is not splinter cell anymore, its just another generic kiddy action game, its truly ashame to see what has happened to such a great game. ubisoft sucks now

I don't have any problem killing people if it's the objective to do so.  However, killing people just for the sake of killing people is fucking stupid in a stealth game.  "But but Sam is mad" I don't give a shit.  He doesn't care about random guards.  He cares about getting to the people responsible.

Gamespot just reviewed and gave it an 8 out of 10 and that's the lowest they've ever given a splinter cell game other than Essentials.  They said that hardcore fans would feel some dissapointment but that it's still a good game.  Same way I feel.

QuoteYou think you make sense, and you do, but it's just redundant shit.  It's like repeating "Apples are red" over and over and over again.  I don't see what your grand point is.

What you don't seem to understand is that while you may agree with me, Spekkio and others have said that "apples are green" which they are aren't they. We are arguing something and you think that it is all about you. THAT IS MY POINT. Nothing besides the fact that they did it for money is my point, and Spekkio says they stand to lose more than make which is kind of what we are talking about, whether it was smart to do it for money.

QuoteI don't have to answer to your stupid ass redundant claims.  How many times have I said it was done for money?  How many times have you repeated that it was done for money and acted like I don't understand this?

How many times did I talk about it NOT to you? Don't answer I don't want to hear you speak as does anyone else. You are just being an ass because you think you are right when clearly you have no clue what is going on. Most of my posts were to others that talked about money; mine to you have been saying you lack brain cells.

QuoteThe redundance never ends I guess.  I don't have to confirm shit to you when this argument is this retarded.  Look at my posts.  Look at your posts.  You look like an idiot.

I look like an idiot for talking to other people than you? I don't see anything that makes me look dumb. Back to your apples example: If spekkio says apples are green and I say they are red, we can argue. You think I am always saying it to you, which is completely false, because you agree apples are red. Well, in that case, you agree with me. So stop arguing me about NOTHING. We are literally arguing over a non-existent case.

QuoteJust because you understand someone's intentions doesn't mean you shouldn't be pissed at them.  "No harm no foul if you make your intentions unclear by your actions but not by your words"  You are being weird.  This may be the dumbest "argument" I've ever had because it's not even an argument.

Who's intentions are "unclear by their actions but not by your words?" That isn't comprehensible. I have been saying that I understand why they did it; it is their game and they can do whatever they want. You are mad and I get that. I have been saying it was a JUSTIFIED decision though. I have a point and you agree. I am talking to other people, YET AGAIN.

QuoteWe agree with eachother and you just keep going around in circles about meaningless shit.  Forget it.

You are correct. But who started this?
QuoteI know why they are doing it.  So you can shut the fuck up about your obsession with their money.  It's redundant.  Whether they will make more money or not remains to be seen because it has not yet been put on sale.
You did. Every post after that has been defending my right to argue with others besides yourself and prove that you are completely misguided on your new basis for arguing. You are simply arguing me just because you can.

Let me repeat: WE AGREE WITH EACH OTHER. They did it for money and we both think that it was the wrong direction. Can we knock this off?

PS: Don't bring up redundancy because I made the same point in every one of these paragraphs!

Farley4Fan

Ion, I counted 4 times where you directly tried to explain to me the reasoning behind their decision.  The very first post that you responded to (Pg. 2 I think), I said that I understood the reasoning.  Before you even started arguing this REDUNDANT point I said that I understood their money-based decision, hence the redundance.  I counted plenty of other times where I said I understood their decision.  So, in conclusion, you look fucking stupid.  Again.  Conversation = Over.

RedundIont is your official new name.  Enjoy.

I even tried to be nice. You are fucking retarded. My point is that they have a reason, your point is that they ruined the game. You don't understand that and keep pointing out that I have a point and made it multiple times. Congrats on pointing out that I try and make a point. Too bad you are an imbecile that can't comprehend ideas and sentences. Get a FUCKING life and quit trying to piss me off. You continually ignore that I speak to others besides yourself, that this is a debatable subject, and that I have a point. I am not going to go back and quote you anymore, I am not going to point out your point is retarded, and I am not going to continue this. I am right, you are right. We agree. Our points are the same; our battles different. Maybe if you grew up past your 2nd grade logic you would see that in a debate you argue your POINT, not say it and then switch topics. You have argued about my redundant posts for 5 posts now. Getting a little redundant isn't it?

By the way: I fucked your mom. She is loose as hell.

I was playing through CT the other day and I just wished that I were more like a panther you know? In co-op mode you get really bored waiting, stealth should be about speed! chaos theory co-op would have been better if the two players were more like a pack of wolves.

Conviction is gonna be the best game ever!

As for the game I decided to rent it today.  It's not a bad game, it's just not a great game.  I came in with low expectations - believe me -and I'm enjoying the game so far mainly because of the story.  Wtf was up with that Iraq mission though?

SPOILER!  When I first realized that I wasn't Sam during the Iraq mission I was like "OH!  Interesting!" and then I was like "Why was that so cool and what was the point of that little semi-twist?"  I really don't get the point of that.  Maybe it was to sort of show what Costa did to help him in the past but it just seems unnecessary, the whole mission was unnecessary.  It seemed like it was there to pad the campaign length.

The gameplay literally forces you to kill a lot of people and get into firefights.  It's not even close to challenging on "realistic" mode.  For real.  It's super super easy.  I've died like once or twice.  It's the same messed up stealth system we've come to expect from those who have played the demo.  I've felt like I was hidden, moved an inch, then became fully exposed for the enemy to take turns raping my butthole (but then I'd just shoot them no problem).

I played through the game a few days back. What I hate most about it, other than the shitty gameplay, story, character-rape, and other, is the voice "acting." The main characters I can bear, but there's just so much CONSTANT jabbering and f-bombs from the enemies, and I'm talking about LITERALLY constant. Even when there's NOBODY ALIVE, you can hear people yelling at you. ???

Based upon the demo I have an entirely different opinion. I've personally found the game to be far better than CT in terms of single player gameplay. There is now further importance placed upon the use of gadgets, the enemies are much smarter (especially if you're playing stealthily). You say the enemies are constantly jabbering.... they communicate with each other? They formulate plans together unlike the AI in previous games? May hell rain down upon Conviction! They swear... who cares? They have tried to portray a specific type of personality for the enemies, and they have succeeded.

You haven't played the final game yet, have you? If not, let me know what you think when you have. I thought it'd be a somewhat decent stealth game myself after playing the demo, but it wasn't. Farleyfan's quote pretty much sums it up for me. I can't really get into the game when I'm forced into firefights. The last level is the worst SC level in the history.

Anyway, the screaming AI wasn't an issue in the demo, but when I heard it for hours on end, the SAME thing over and over again, I wanted to kill myself. Had they just yelled "fuck" every two minutes, it would've been fine. :P

If by "specific personality" you mean a swearing badass who feels no fear, then yes, they've succeeded -- and they've cloned them!

I don't know... I've played through roughly half of the game if I was to guess, and I'm finding it quite enjoyable. It's an offshoot of classic SC gameplay, but now (to me) it feels more "Realistic". After playing through at the very least part of the older SCs prior to my purchase yesterday of Conviction I've come to the conclusion that Stealth, while fun, was also less practical than others hold it up to be.

The guards do yell the same things, but hell, that's been true since SC1. Just in this case they swear a lot more.

Maybe I'm not the best Run N' Gunner here, but on Realistic I've had very little luck just shooting up a place and have died many times because of this lack of tact.

Forced Firefights seem like a problem, but that's where the "Realistic" Stealth comes in. In older SCs there was seemingly ALWAYS a time in which a person was left alone, or in some kind of position where their partner wouldn't see them get taken down. Made a little sense because of the size of levels. Small Corridors = Less Guards. In Conviction though, Bigger Areas = Group Tactics. I personally like it, even if I have used my gun an infinite amount of times more than I did in the others. While that may be the game "Forcing" me I can definitely SEE that there are ways to go about not killing anything, but it takes actual skill. When you pull it off you feel much more accomplished than ever before in the series.

Don't get me wrong though, I don't think it's perfect in any sense. The AI is still a problem at some points, such as I was waiting through a few waves of enemies just sitting outside a windows. They passed right under me, but for some reason couldn't see me. They don't look up I guess.

As for the Iraq mission Farley, it was there to indeed show you why Sam trusts Costa. Since you COULD just believe that he does, but it puts much more emphasis if you actually see what was done. Unnecessary if you don't care for justification, but needed to flesh out the story more completely.
If you haven't noticed, I'm REALLY good at making a simple response into a wall of text.

How is it more realistic?  I think you have it backwards.  And Conviction holds "half-stealth" to be more practical than it is and should be.

QuoteThe guards do yell the same things, but hell, that's been true since SC1. Just in this case they swear a lot more.

I actually didn't have a problem with what the guards yelled.  I thought it was kind of cool that they'd mention previous missions.

QuoteMaybe I'm not the best Run N' Gunner here, but on Realistic I've had very little luck just shooting up a place and have died many times because of this lack of tact.

Try throwing gadgets and then shooting up the place.  It works.  I died like 5-6 times throughout the whole game and went about half stealth/half shooting most of the time.

Another thing I noticed is that whenever you are aiming at a guard's body and then zoom in, it will go DIRECTLY to his head.  ON REALISTIC!  Tell me how this shit is not something to cater to idiots!  I mean, come on.  I was wondering for about 2 hours how I was just absolutely raping with little effort.  Then it hit me, the game was doing it for me.  There is no way to turn this off through the settings menu or anything.  It just does it.  WTF!?

I didn't use Mark and execute the entire game in an effort to sort of boycott the idiocy of it all, and guess what, they still held my hand the whole way through.  Bogus.

You know, I can kind of agree, but Conviction always has a guy that you use to get your "execution" points for mark and execute.  I actually think the AI was good for this kind of game and they worked together okay as a big group.

QuoteDon't get me wrong though, I don't think it's perfect in any sense. The AI is still a problem at some points, such as I was waiting through a few waves of enemies just sitting outside a windows. They passed right under me, but for some reason couldn't see me. They don't look up I guess.

I think the AI is generally good but obviously it was constructed in a manner that works in this game, but they don't do things that we would generally expect them to do.

This seems like the only thing that was fleshed out.  That's why it seems unnecessary to me.  No background info on the bad guys, the VP, etc...

Am I the only one who thought that the name "Grimsdottir" was foreshadowing for the death of Sam's daughter?  Grim Daughter?  I don't know.  I always thought she would "die" at some point in the series.

monterto

Am I the only one that thought the black outs in chaos theory to be some sort of fore-shadowing? I always expected EMP grenades in conviction.

My life is not complete without that picture.
