i really like the idea of a moving train with possibilities like cutting off wagons (would be awesome if the spies could so this between all wagons), the ability to snipe better in curves, trains going the other way lighting the outside and the inside through the windows and killing any spy hanging at the side etc etc.
there are endless possibilities of making this map more interactive. i don't think linearity will be a big problem so that vents had to be spammed, if the spies could climb on the outside of the train (where they could be sniped if a merc goes to the last waggon, but he can get lost due to cutting off this wagon etc). there are also many hiding places, just imagine all the seats...
this stuff has some potential :D

I don't know, I mean there's just not muhc room for the spy to manuever and hide. Passenger trains are pretty tight ,meaning that you rpobably can't even run past the merc on most corridors after you shock him. Plus, it's a map where the spies speed will dominate, since it's effectively a pure straight line without any merc shortcuts.

Aside from the graphical coolness of having a level be a moving train, I don't think it'd be all that great. In fact, it would probably be a terrible map, a lot like Deftech only without any corners. I mean imagine playing an entire level of nothing but Schermerhorn style train cars. Sounds pretty boring really.

not if the train is long enough and has all the interactive elements we spoke of

I can definitely see a Schermerhorn train not working, but the train from that was VERY narrow.  I'm sure that a wider train car could be done realistically.  I don't know, the map could be done if it is done carefully.

Succubus Dryad Of The Undying Comet

You could do the "Titan" from BF2142 to infiltrate and destroy, but make the bomb to have an insane timer, say 1:15 :P

I always thought one of those two story futuristic air planes would make an interesting level. Like, maybe you start in the Airport, and by the final objective your int he plane, or something. Planes have vents and cargo area's etc which can be larger than real life (for game illusion purposes)

But as far as the train goes, the only real way I can see a level being pulled off well on a train would be to have it some sort of futuristic train that is much wider and larger than normal trains. Also, maybe you can have three different train tracks next to each other with three trains going the same way. Who knows.

I like the plane idea, that could work pretty well.  Jumping off of your two-story plane idea, what if we made the train a two-story train?  Creating it would be a little more difficult, because you'd have to pull off the double-decker train in a realistic-esque way.  If you could pull that off though, it would be nice.  The spies would essentially have three levels to work with, the roof of the train (should be Spy only), and then both levels of the train itself.

Umm....

HeroFromHyrule

I never said there wasn't such a thing as a double-decker train, I simply stated that it may be difficult to create it in a realistic way [while still being playable with the SC gameplay].

Farley4Fan

I like this idea.  Say there is a broken down train in a four lane track.  Some of these tracks have trains that are still operating.  You have to use caution to step onto a track to get to the broken down train with objectives that are inside.  The trains shouldn't come by too often, when they do they splatter whatever is in its way ( merc, spy ) and kill the player.  That would be cool.

Another idea that I am not sure if someone else posted yet, was a airplane in a hanger.  It isn't moving, objectives are inside.  Maybe some of you have played Enter the Matrix from about 2 years ago.  There was an awesome mission in that with a plane in a hanger.  There was some documents or ammo in there that you had to get.  I think this would work out well for an online map...

Innocent-US

You lost any credibility after you said "Enter the Matrix" and "awesome mission".  :P

I could see a heavily modified jumbo jet as a viable level.

Why not, just make it look realistic and say the spies have to steal something for the Chinese ppl.
btw - found in teh internet, very interesting :

If what the guy says is true, then the map i suggested above wouldn't be so irrealistic.

stfu with this bullshit :D
(ufos are still a better idea than a 200 man gamemode ::))
