I agree... Totally useless!

If my heart ever heals, I will make sure it'll never break again.

Okay, I am willing to bet that we will have over a thousand players on this game.  Another thing is that millions of people play xbl not thousands.  So rep really doesn't matter there, but in a game with only hundreds or so I think it will be a lot more important.  On xbl you get a lot of really immature players who accuse of cheating and leave bad reviews, but since we will have a lot less immature and young players I doubt it will be abused and should be used.  This shouldn't be a " too low of rep and you get banned " sort of thing though...

Yeah, it should just say how much ppl like you, so others can see what kind of person you are.
And maybe an option to not make it just +/- 1, but add a selection of comments (drop-down list), so people can rate you more accurately.

dude, check out the dystopia (hl2 mod) player number...
i think it's a good comparision because it is a total conversion mod and features a quite complex gameplay, just like ps.

what actually renders this feature useless is that most of us will know exactly who we are playing against because the community is so small.

Personally I am against a public branding of people ....

Everywhere that I have mentioned this ( I made sure they weren't noobs to the SC series ) they all were pretty eager to play this game.  Some even wanted to buy a PC just for this game because they wanted a real online experience.  I know this is a mod, but it could be a pretty big mod lol.  It depends how you market it.  Trailers ( I could make one ), articles, make threads on different websites, tell online community on CT about it, advertise it in sigs, a teaser website.  I know definately not all of those, but they would get the online number over a thousand.

As far as I think, it will be big if you guys can pull it off.  For the rep system I think that you should maybe only be allowed to leave comments that people can see and you can respond to.

Spekkio

I keep looking at PS and thinking that this thread is about something cool like an in-game replay system, but instead it's a shitty idea about an in-game reputation system.

Lock I say!

I think rep is a good idea.  We will have a lot less players and so we should have a rep system.  On xbl there are so many players you barely ever get paired with the same person twice and you don't care about there rep.  If there are less players I would want quality over quantity, and I would want to know the quality of them before I get stuck ingame with them.

Succubus Dryad Of The Undying Comet

Yeah, so you had a screen to rate your mate every round, and then he gets stats like -50 spy +23 merc etc.
But you could only rate ppl twice - once for each team.
On second thought, this seems like a bad idea.

This actually really isn't that necessary, but it could help a bit.  I reccomend implementing it if it is really easy to do so

Spekkio

No, it won't help at all. You go into a server, and the host is an ass. You give him - rep points. But since he's an ass, he gives you - rep points just for the hell of it too. Then you go into a "pro's shotgun only server," own them, and get more - rep points.

Reputation points would be as accurate a determination about the attitude of a player as the current ranking system is regarding skill.

Succubus Dryad Of The Undying Comet

So you would like search for ppl with the less rep points :P
Simple.

This is probably the best description of how this would work out if implemented.  In the long run, it wouldn't do anybody any good.

Yes, and you'll probably know who you're playing because of it. I agree with Spekkio here, it'll not work.
