Probably a little late, but maybe somebody hasn't played it.

I don't get scared from horror movies, and I've basically seen all of the best ones. Maybe a few heart pounding moments, but nothing even coming close to making me scream. So you could imagine no horror game has really scared me before either... but this... this is the fucking scariest game I've ever played. It had me screaming in horror at some parts, and sometimes even quitting from sheer terror and going to sleep. Definitely one of the best single player games I've ever played. GG to the five developers behind this masterpiece.

Go buy it off steam right now.

There was a thread about it earlier.

What exactly is so scary. I hear everyone saying it's scary as hell, etc.

I'm almost out of chapter one and I can't say it really scared me at all up till now. The wandering monster isn't really that scary (I mean, it's just a model...) and if he gets you, so what, you just start over...

Most of the sounds that raise the "insanity" on your character, are completely random and have no meaning at all (crying baby, playing piano, screaming woman). And the wandering monster really sounds like a Wookie which makes me laugh everytime I hear it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1TX4VPnPkQ (4:00 is hilarious, as is 3:32, Wookie @ 2:42 :P).

OMG! THAT BASTARD MADE THE GAME SO UNSCARY QQ XD

Lol at wookies hugging the sheep ><

Play it with headphones on, in the dark, and TRY not to be seen by it. Don't just run around randomly, that ruins the experience. Later on in the game it gets pretty fucked up, like no joke.

DreadStunLock

Seen by what exactly? I don't get that part?

There is this wandering monster that's supposed to scare and kill you if he sees you.

"Cicho, bo przyjdzie Zdzicho!" - don't put much attention just some random tribal language quote.

Amnesia would be so much better if graphics would be as good as Arkham Asylum game :) I think. To be honest everything would. Every game would be amazing if same quality was used like in Arkham Asylum.

LennardF1989

The engine used for Amnesia is pretty good, actually. It has evolved very well over all their games, too.

DreadStunLock

Yeah but the textures look CT--ish? No? :/

I was watching on YouTube a guy playing this game and he was just perfect!
One time he went to window to be in the light and make himself feel better he was looking at it and suddenly the doors opened right next to him the monster went like 1 meter away from him making all the ugly sounds turned around and went away. the guy stood there like that for a moment and said finally: "I'll pretend I didn't see that." and went straight ahead.

DreadStunLock

Yeah that guy was something xD After passing a level his like "I miss the wookie-man" xD
