Hi, I just need some confirmation, are you guys going to delete all of the Physical Materials that come WITH UDK and use your own or keep them?

Because, I just figured out how to set different footstep sounds to different textures, and it would be kind of dumb, if I placed them and loaded them in near future to PS editor, and they don't work, because they are removed.

Any solid confirmation on that?

(The physical materials I am talking about are mainly the footstep sounds: Dirt, Water, Grass, Mud, Sand, etc.)

you should be fine. though it's possible to keep all the set up and just change the sound. That why ur wood sounds like our wood. With that said, we aren't removing anything from UDK afaik.

I haven't played with UDK's standard physmats, but we use a custom sound manager for the footsteps (so we can play sounds for non-running etc too). So afaik the standard ones won't work. You'll probably have to set-up the physmats for the materials once we release the PS Editor. Takes a bit of time, but that's neglectable compared to the changes in other areas like setting up objs and passive security and visions.

That's cool, I already learned how to do the footsteps standard way, let's hope your way is simpler.

Go to a material, open it up, select the wanted PSPhysMat from our pre-supplied package and use it on the material. Ta-dah. We got metal, wood, carpet and some concrete. New sounds will be implemented once I clear my backlog of work (was on holiday for 11 days).

We do, actually, we do not ship any of the standard UDK packages. If you want specific assets, it's recommended exporting them all in your own packages before use, due to the many dependencies they have. But as frvge said, we give you guys a lot of preconfigured especially made for PS physical materials, standard ones will not work because we simply ignore those :D
