Capcom.

Capcom suck, they didn't include Kenshin as a playable character in Sengoku Basara 3.

(i don't actually know if kenshin was popular with the fans or what but he's popular with me and that's what counts)

I think they want to cut costs and go with the older engine they already own. Also, a new engine would probably need a lot of tweaking to get it to work for consoles. Look at Assassin's Creed for example, they all use the same engine and that's been going for some time. What ever Revelations may bring it's just a bucket load of glossiness covering up the signs of ageing of the engine. A new engine in this case would slow progress. Meaning they can't pump out sequel after sequel every 1,5 to 2 years thus reducing profit.
Double Agent for PC was actually a mix of all previous engines (Ubisoft upgraded the engine slightly with each SC) + some Unreal Engine 3 elements (shaders, for most of it).

Conviction on the other hand, is basically CT's engine (the devs didn't even know about what the hell Ubisoft did with the DA engine) meets Unreal 3.

Though, it must be stated that CT's engine at his time was far more superior than Unreal Engine 3. Only recently Unreal Engine 3 is coming close to the features CT already pumped out based on the Unreal Engine 2, for example: Lit particles, Lightmass - CT calls it Global Illumination - and Kismet - Ubisoft developed his own version called Pattern.

You serious? I tried to go back to CT's Editor, I thought it was beyond crap :D Can't imagine not having the Kismet O:

This room was designed by my friend, I just adjusted a few things and put mirror.

Cleaned up this thread a tiny bit.

Mainly just the part where Dread and Agent went on about eachother. Also the part about Cat Ears/Furries. ...No need for that here.

(I'm sure no one noticed, but if you had a post that disappeared and you're wondering why, then now you know :D)
If you haven't noticed, I'm REALLY good at making a simple response into a wall of text.

I was talking about the SP aspect of CT, not MP. MP is the SC1 engine, hence it looks so crap compared to CT itself.

My vid card got fried and now I'm using an onboard vid card.

If scct mp uses sc1 engine, how come sc1 crashes when I use thermal goggles, but scct mp doesn't?

Because the engine got tailored for use with MP, it's not like they could just take the SC1 engine and leave it as-is.

Am I the only one that loved Conviction? At the very least it had the best cover system of any game... ever.

I loved it too. In my opinion, Conviction is the best Splinter Cell ever.

If my heart ever heals, I will make sure it'll never break again.

I loved it the first time I played it and I loved doing the full stealth walkthrough for it, but it's got such little replay value that I haven't played it since.

BLASPHEMERS!

I think we're gonna have to do an honor killing and stone you to death for such heresy.

I wasn't a big fan of the cover system.  It got annoying looking where I wanted to go all the time.  Instead of just doing a swat turn I had to look at the place I was turning to and then do it.  And the lack of a jump button just made climbing shit 10x harder.  I felt I had no control over Fisher.  Like he himself was questioning my commands.  wtf

I'm happy to say I never touched it. Seen a few short vids, which were too lethal for me.

What were you playing with? An Attari controller? Though I disagree with Conviction being the best out of all Splinter Cells, maybe if it had more options and longer levels then yes, otherwise no waaay!
