It makes the landing softer because the force is spread out over a longer period of time and shared around your body instead of just on the feet and ankles.

Still sounds like the best way to get your neck broken.

Succubus Dryad Of The Undying Comet

Yup. It's also a great way to warm-up before doing sports - we do it on aikido all the time.
(of course it has to be combined with stretching)

Gawain

u jump from 5m without forward momentum and make a roll just to warm up for aikido? dammit i'm in the wrong dojo :P
seriously, we gotta ask the freerunner guy.

Succubus Dryad Of The Undying Comet

Nah, not that much, about 2 meters. But it's still a great exercise.

You can still roll w/o forward momentum.  Just have the spy's legs project the spy.

But how does that make you land softer? The way I see it we might just as well include a head first-leap of faith for that purpose.

Hard to explain.  He'd need a hay bail to do a leap of faith anyways.  ;)

ZOMG!! DEPLOYABLE HAY BAILS FOR A NEW GADGET!!?!?!?!

Bah. We need proper gear for minimizing falling trauma... This would be ingenius.

Farley4Fan

Michelin man.  Why did I not think of that?!?!  I still think hay bails that launch out of your ss would be the best thing on the planet.

Secondary function for a Camo Suit?

Wrap your arm around a grabbed merc's head, inflate the michelin arms, and watch him suffocate.  Bingo.  Holy shiza, this is off topic.

I think the devs/animators can work out what the animation would be like - most likely some kind of roll - but would everyone like this?!  If so, the devs need to start thinking about it.

Yay or Nay for smooth landing animation?

Nay. I think it should be the way it was originally intended to be in CT - which also makes sense. However, I'd welcome a "smooth landing" that requires the momentum. But if discussing that causes too much trouble then I'll just settle with the rough landing animation.

Farley4Fan

So, it would be a yay then.  It's up to the devs, imo, to decide on the details of how it works/if you need momentum/the actual animation - you know, if the devs want to decide on something like that.   Seems like you'd be welcome to one that requires momentum, so it's a yay for you then right?

Why don't you make a poll?

Gawain
