it's up to the map designers, though i think they have a very hard time: tv, emf, passive security, exact lightning etc are all things you don't have to bother creating maps for other games.
But you don't have to scratch your head up with the health packs, specific ammo types, power ups and 101 pickups and path nodes...

Hyrage I'm positive that the SvM genre (is it a genre?) is the hardest kind of game to map for.  It's just got so many variables.  Everything has to be perfect, and if there is just one overpowered spot the entire map becomes unbalanced in most cases.  Everything like terminals, disc pickups/dropoffs, bomb placement spots, hallways, vents, rails, stairs, walls, etc... Everything has to be placed and designed perfectly.  In other types of games like FPS's, it doesn't matter where a lot of stuff is placed - at least not as much as SvM...

I know you were referring to halo also-nodes gave it away.  ;D
