Not if they plant the mine close to the wall so that even if the spy HAS switched shoulders he'll still get hit by it.

Gawain

well if that's possible the only use i can see is to place a tricky sticky cam in a stealthy way, because tazing the merc is easy to do in the 0.2s reaction time he needs anyways.

if you can bypass everything that easily the whole defense strategy of the mercs has to change...

You can hardly bypass everything.

I mean really if a mine is shootable by the SS then it's generally not a good mine placement in the first place.

I don't put any of my mines in locations where they can get shot (at least not from the entrance that I'm blocking).

Gawain

i meant with switching shoulders n stuff  ::)

Farley4Fan

Yeah, and you can still place effective mines with good mine placement.  ::)  Switching shoulders isn't like the total anti-mine. lmao

Blank Man

It is if there is no merc around while you are trying to taze/remove the mine. You'll be able to remove just about everything. Mines are only effective when the spy is in haste.

Fruitless Man

Couldn't you just have one of those leaning moves? Like in Crysis and most other FPS games. And when a spy takes out his shocker, the view changes to first person for easier aim or something?

Oh really.

So how are you going to take out a poison mine that's on the corner of a room and blocks a doorway? switching shoulders isn't going to help wtih that stuff.

Honestly I can't think of many laser or poison mines that people are going to place where shifting shoulders will matter.

Gawain

if this is the case switching shoulders is almost useless.

Succubus Dryad Of The Undying Comet

Yeah, better back to wall and pull out your gun.
Well, at least you may be fast enough to shoot the mine :P

Leaning!!!
Your foot would go through the laser, and if not, it'd be hard to animate nicely.
You could as well just jump over/ crawl under/ roll through the laser.

No, you just don't understand why it would be useful.  Being able to shock a merc from behind cover w/o exposing your head and most of your body is a huge use.  Don't be ignorant.

Fruitless Man

No, dude. Leaning as in letting your upper body hang out, without tripping the laser with your feet. Sort of wrapping around. Do you seriously not know what I'm talking about? It's in a lot of games.

Westfall

I don't really feel that switching shoulders when shooting should happen during the game. I figured it to be a toggled item in the options menu. I guess it would be nice to switch hands to fire, but it seems minuscule.
