Now I know way back in the day when seefoo was around there was a poll done on resolutions, now just for those in speculation because one of the biggest problems is that chaostheory had was not supporting

wide screen resolutions ie. 16:9  , 16:10 , will all that be supported :P ?

-Thanks Murdy for da Sig <3  xD

I agree that they should be supported, but not in the way of widening the horizontal FOV, but by cutting down the vertical FOV and zooming in so that the horizontal FOV stays the same regardless of resolution.

We'll probably do some crafty thing. The way we cut the view will probably be decided later, like in the beta stage.

No. The future is widescreen. So why would we handicap more than 50% of our players, which are more likely more serious about gaming than people will a small full screen monitor? Restricting widescreen players is a horrible idea.

This is just my opinion.

AGREED!

I hate arguments like this. "Oh we have shitty graphics so can you make the game with really crappy graphics just so that WEEE can play because if you dont people with better graphics card will have a 0.1% better advantage omgomgomgomg".

Deal with it. Get a new computer / whatever, idc just go home. JEEZ!

ChaosTroll

The best thing to do is not cut off vertical or horizontal fov. Both play a crucial part in gameplay. 16:10/16:9 resolutions are pretty much the only way to go right now. And honestly if thats a problem it will be too bad. Perhaps it should be listed in the game requirement specs. And if you don't have one of those resolutions your computer will adjust and you can have squishy HUDS and squishy hard to hit enemies :)

Reminds me of Left 4 Dead 1/2. Valve decided to not have dynamic flash lights for all 4 survivors since people with really crappy hardware would not be able to run it smoothly.

Then I suggested that Valve made it an option, so people who actually use more than $50 on their computers could have a great experience.

Then the people with crappy hardware complained that it was unfair and they would have disadvantage if their TEAM MATES could see more.

If my heart ever heals, I will make sure it'll never break again.

compared to all the major balance issues with ct and the long way ps still has to go, the fact that we are talking about something small like this is really quite funny.

Seriously, this isn't small. Restricting and penalizing a person who has a better system than somebody else is one of the worst decisions we could make. Having a few more inches of horizontal visibility is not that big of a deal, and is definitely not a big enough deal to penalize somebody who uses a widescreen by restricting their vertical FOV, which is hugely important in a game like this.

Succubus Dryad Of The Undying Comet

Well, if you're not going to not restrict/ cut/ whatever the view, the people with 4:3 displays will get a FOV that's about 40% smaller. Explain how that's balanced when a person with a 16:9 is playing as a merc. Basically they get a fov that's about.. 120-130, while 4:3 people get 85-95.

That IS a serious issue, and personally I'd go with what Epic did in UT3.

If you use a 4:3 monitor I'll let you suck on my titties to ease the pain.

Exactly. You in the stone age brah?

Farley4Fan

Why not shorten vertical view for 4:3 users so that the image is smaller and they have the same field of view.  Everyone would have the same field of view, but widescreen users enjoy the use of the full screen and 4:3 users get the same field of view but are limited in picture size.  Sounds good to me.

Succubus Dryad Of The Undying Comet

Meh. Mirror's Edge did that. Now I'm stuck with two dark stripes on the screen.
But no, it sounds awful. I can't possibly imagine SvM with a FOV > 100. Mercs would have it too easy.

Farley4Fan

What do you mean a "FOV > 100"?
