I just watched Microsoft's conference and well, I'm totally dissapointed.

They blew their load way too early.

That's probably the best way to describe it.

MGS: Rising looked really cool.  Is it a motion control game?  The way you choose which way to slice kind of threw me off but it looked awesome.  It's not even close to a traditional MGS game but it's nice to have Kojima do some stuff on Xbox.

Fable 3, meh.  I won't hold my breath for a stellar game.  I actually like Fable 2 but the ending left such a bad taste in my mouth that I'm ready for more dissapointment.  Molyneux doesn't help with his phrases that he took right out of a book describing the second coming.

Gears 3.   WOW.  That looked awesome.  Huge fan of gears.  Glad to see that they included 4 player coop in this one.  Awesome action.  Kind of funny the way they acted like they didn't know what was going to happen with the scripted moments.  A friggin Plus.

Halo Reach actually looked really good but the presentation was not that great.  They had loads of enemies on screen and suprisingly good graphics.  The gameplay looked solid and had some new twists.  I think it might've been the lack of epic music that Halo is known for that explains my lack of appreciation for the presentation.  Once they include that I expect the game to be a lot more moody and emotional.  But, the ending was just awesome.  Space combat.  Brings me back to the days of tie fighter.  I love space combat.  I hope they pull off those sequences, they have potential with this game even if it is "just halo".

COD black ops.  What can I say?  It's COD.  Looked okay.  It seems like it's still full of slam bang moments and decent everything else.

Some kind of possibly hack and slash game from Crytek set in Sparta was announced, could be good.  I love me some Crytek.

No Crackdown 2?  No red dead redemption episode announcements?  No new RARE game?  No Banjo, conker, killer instinct, jetpack gemini, perfect dark, viva pinata, NOTHING?!  I doubt Rare will announce a new game now that the conference is over but it's possible.

But aside from all the absentees, it was a great showcase of good games.

And then - darkness.  The conference descended into the realm of shovelware.  A realm where companies beat their chest to declare being the alpha dog while showing kids play with virtual dogs/cats.

Natal, Kinect, whatever you call it has SOME potential, but this conference reassured me that the new peripheral will be shoveling in some shovelware.  But luckily it's easy to ignore.

I thought that it was actually promising the way you can navigate the dashboard with motion.  The demonstration with Forza actually looked pretty nifty.  Hopefully there are developers out there with the patience to create something truly great with Kinect.  Let the kiddies play with tiger cubs named skittles.  God knows I'm too immature to be immature.  I'd probably whip out my schlong and see what skittles or Milo says.

ESPN free for gold members is an awesome addition.  I may actually use this if a game I want to see isn't on a regular TV.  The next step is adding a customizable scoreboard to your dashboard.  Pushing the dashboard button while playing to keep tabs on my favorite teams would be really cool.  They probably aren't as innovative as my fantastic brain is, though.

360 slim, short, thing.  Big deal.  I already have an xbox.  It will sell like hotcakes though.

The fact that they didn't name prices for Kinect probably means that it's too expensive to brag about.  Probably means that I won't even come close to buying it.  Maybe once a price drop happens, maybe once the economy/my wallet rebounds, MAYBE once some decent games are made for Kinect.  Maybe.

Big Maybe.

Most of the conference was just a bunch of horseshit with the Kinect thing.  I was waiting on the edge of my seat for Half life ep 3, Banjo Kazooie 4, Conker Live and Re-reloaded, but no.

Casual is conquering.
that pretty much sums it up.

Head tracking with Natal would be fucking epic. Proper perspective 3d. And it would solve my issue where I learn to look around corners in video games >_>

based upon this information it tells me you are a shitty mercenary :D .

-Thanks Murdy for da Sig <3  xD

Yeah the head tracking where you look around the car in Forza would definately be cool.

I just checked in on the Ubi press conference, God help me, and it's safe to say that Ghost Recon is ruined.  Just one more franchise for Ubi to check off the list of their fantastic franchises to rape and exploit.  As if I expected anything else.

Ubi replaced wide open battlfields and strategy with, you guessed it, hollywood tricks and slick executions.

Surprise surprise.

The new ray man looks cool though.

So it comes with an HD, and I don't need to buy anything extra to get on my wireless network? And they've probably cleared up the hardware problems the older 360s had by now.

Kinda intrigued here.

Reach is good (played the beta), Gears 3 looks ballin, new COD will be fun with friends, everything else looks shit.

I want a new Jet Force Gemini...

Natal looks promising but the way they have to show it to the public makes me facepalm.

What's up with that black man showing off what it can do? They need to go all politic correct because natal didn't recognize black people before? And why does that black man listen to justin bieber, why does Microsoft think gamers want to hear justin bieber at a press conference?

And that lolly on stage playing with her pussy. Shouldn't she be in school? Who would want to act like a retard infront of their screen to pleasure a pussycat. Don't they have self esteem to care about?

Back to the games. Nothing really amazed me much, I'm looking forward to Fable 3 as it will be released on the PC too. But gears of war and halo are nothing new or original. Call of Duty could be nice, loved the crawl space with the vietcon's crawling about like rats. It's a shame they had to show it on an xbox. I still don't get why or how you would play a shooting game on a controller. Feels like playing baseball with a spoon.

But if you thought you seen it all... then comes ubicrap. Assassins creed was nice and im deffinatly keeping my eyes on the progress but the rest they showed... Really??? Plastic NERF guns? Blood pressure clamp? What the hell.. What the hell really. I thought it was a gaming company, not some retard toy factory. What does it have to do with the whole E3? The skating game was fail. You play as an emo little skater dork with carrot top hair that needs to skate infront of people to get a hard on and start enjoying life again. Then the new Ghost Recon, even though it has invisibility cloaks (lol) it doesn't look that bad but it doesn't promise anything good either. I wonder if Ubisoft will implement moving bodies (lol) this time. Oh well... I had hoped for a teaser of a new Splinter Cell which wasn't there... Slept 3 hours only because of that.. Damn you!

I also played the beta and wasn't blown away but I was impressed.  I can't wait for the full game now.

I thought MGS Rising looked good.  If it's not just a hack/slash game then it could be amazing.  Imagine some stealth elements thrown in.  I would love to sneak in the shadows, turn on my robot-pwn-suit, then slice someone's head off from behind.  The technology seems to be there and I doubt Kojima would let it become something so simple.  MGS games usually have some depth/variety thrown in.

Please rare.  New Jet Force, new banjo, new conker, new killer instinct, new perfect dark, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD don't let us down in the next few days.

@dwarf, I thought the new Assassin's Creed looked great.  THAT is what Assassin's creed 2 should have been.  WTF?  How have they made all these improvements and epic scale changes in less than a freaking year?  God damn ubisoft just do the right thing.  Should be an expansion.  I swear if it's 60 bucks.

Ghost recon.  Ugh.  Where do I begin?  It's just sad.  So many memories.  It has been Conviction'd.

Games are made for ADD kids these days, not for adults who play games. I mean like you said, they fucked up Splinter Cell in favor of action so why not go the same route with other franchises. They cater to consoles plain and simple. They port it over to the PC so they can maybe get a little more revenue but in most cases I doubt they give a shit about PC. They throw it out there and hen it turns out to be shit they shrug their shoulders and say oh well. I think UBI lost it a long time ago and they have been going downhill ever since. They should just work exclusively for Microshaft or Sony to make their development less challenging as they seem to have troubles with it.

I agree except for the part about consoles.  Obviously the major part of the casual market that they are targeting is predominantly within the console population, but that doesn't mean that they can't make a hardcore game that requires patience, strategy, and no ADD on consoles.  It's been done countless times to a lot of success.

I am still just totally PO'd about Ghost Recon.  I can't tell you how much fun I had coordinating attacks on Ghost Recon 1 and 2 during the old xbox days.  We got so into that.

I just watched the new Zelda and I've got a mix of emotions.

1) Not sure about the art style.  I liked Wind Waker and Twilight Princess art styles, but they mixed them together to make a sort of semi-ugly hybrid.  We only saw a little portion but it looked like Ocarina or Twilight princess while in alpha form w/ missing textures.

2) It's Zelda.  There has never been a dissapointing Zelda game for me.  They just always seem to be high quality.  I'm sure they COULD keep this trend going.  Even with...

3) ... the motion controls.  Obviously they looked like shit but they played it in a very unusual setting.  They said it was wireless interference and I'm sure that contributed to the problem (or should I say, probrem).  I also think the lighting may have messed up the motion controls.  I think they could pull it off very well if they take the next year to really tighten it up and make it true 1:1 movement.

4)  It is time for a bit of a change.  I still prefer hard buttons to press but if they can make the motion controls as good as Red Steel 2 then this could be a great installment for Zelda.

The trailer showed that the game can be fairly accurate in terms of controls and it also showed that it has a bigger scale than just being in a forest chopping down trees and flowers.  That's good.  So, all in all, terrible presentation but it still has potential to be outstanding.
