The routes can be on opposite sides of the map, but ultimately they lead to close extraction points.  So, merc would still be able to camp the spots and be able to detect spies.  Maybe you could put drop off points further away from eachother.

i was also referring to story mode disk obj.
map design is probably the most important factor.

Well the main flaw with disc extraction is that the merc not only knows where you're going, but also knows where you are, unless you move at a slow crawl. Which really sucks for spies, because that gives the merc ample time to patrol and find you. There's just no easy way to get to the disc drop off in slow crawl, and the moment you move anything faster than slow crawl, the merc knows where you are. And while you're slow crawling he's patroling and the chances he finds you is very high, unless the merc is a total fool, because you can't really sneak past anyone in slow crawl.

So what do you end up doing? Run around, using SS on the merc and trying to run past him, usually with your partner as cover. Either that or your partner hits a second objective as a distraction. Disk extraction right now is the least stealthy objective in CT. It's just a mad dash for the drop site with your partner providing cover with the SS and grenades.

I can't really choose whether bombing or extracting has the least amount of stealth involved.  Because usually it's just a clusterfuck around the bomb with nades going off everywhere with a side helping of an aggro fest.  But bomb's can be stealth also, meaning you sneak to the bomb area.  I'd really wish that you can remote trigger the bomb so the tiimer starts when you want it to.  The only way I can think of getting discs more stealth involved is by removing the arrow and adding the proxy sensor only when the spy has the disc.

Westfall

Both planting bomb and extracting disk are stealthy tasks. Well, if you plot them well.

The only thing that stealth has to do with bombing is the way there, and when you plant it.  If there is a merc a room away then it will have no stealth, and rather a double or triple nade + sticky cams + a shitload of elbows to the face.  The only thing that stealth will have to do with them is timing and distraction (sometimes).  Only thing that extracting has to do with stealth are the moments where you must avoid the mercs and go around them, or moving super duper slowly.  I'd say the vast majority of the times you'll encounter those objectives, you aren't going to NEED stealth.

Gawain

the main problem with the slow walk is that there is no slow climb move. with two disk drop-offs not exactly next to each other, you can go for a stealthy approach quite well.

Farley4Fan

Yeah, there needs to be a slow climb move for sure.

Gawain

it's one of the very little changes that make a really huge difference for the better.

Farley4Fan

Maybe a slow drop move also.  Not an actual drop but you climb down slowly.  If not, you'd have to find a way down that doesn't force you to drop, like stairs.

Gawain

you shouldn't be able to make fast moves like dropping in slow-mode. that's one of the game mechanics that would help newer players a lot since it's more coherent.

Actually, getting into position near the bomb...and having your mate in position to hack something else is the stealthy approach. He starts hacking and you plant. Shoot some nades in doorways....drop cams...use camo or HB sensor. If the merc gets close you can grab or elbow/tazz. Its stealthy until it requires a little something extra. Even if a merc is in the area or close to the room....plant, then move to the closest objective while he's finding the bomb and start hacking. You don't need to get the bomb. Use it as a diversion. No moron would plant the bomb if the merc was in the room unless he had no time/choice.

Farley4Fan

That's why I said that the way there could involve stealth, and when you plant it could involve stealth.  Defending it involves no stealth.  And most of the time, to capture that objective, you NEED to defend it.  The other times the mercs don't care or they are preoccupied with other hacks and objectives.

A way to balance out the disc, it to allow it to crouch run without detection, but not do a standing run. That way you can actually make it there in 10 minutes, but need to be stealthy.
