I wouldn't mind giving people the option. It should be pretty easy.

That would probably be the best option. Both have their perks, but you should be able to choose.

btw:  anything to make us look different from copyrightable material will be strongly encouraged in the project.  Even if it cannot be copywritten,  we need to make an obvious effort to have some originality.

Purple thermal would be a simple and most obvious choice.

Implementing both and have the option to choose would be quite original.

Play tests should show if they are equal. If that's the case, there's a high probability that you can choose.
If one is 'better' than the othe, probably only one iwll be implemented.

Lol, yeah, but there are still some people that are for the RGB thermal vision while others are for Purple Thermal Vision. So, maybe it should be possible to use the one you like, and not be impelled to use the one that's implemented...

LOL  AREN'T WE RUNNING A GOD DAMN DEMOCRACY!!???  Majority rules.  Jk  I could care less.  They both look good in my opinion.  Having both options would be nice.  Maybe having infinite options?  Like say you could choose the hue and saturation of the thermal AND night vision colors.  Some people prefer having greenish NV, I prefer having whitish.  SO, I would just lower the saturation of the visions and I got my whitish preferance filled.

Everyone read my post.  That is easily the best option.  There are no restrictions.  If you prefer to have a purple shaded NV, you can have it.  Read the post please.  The one that starts out with LOL AREN'T WE RUNNING A GOD DAMN DEMOCRACY

I may be a loner out here, but I don't want so many options. I want a solid game, all laid out from the start. I don't want to have to sit here, trying to figure out the optimal hue for my visions. I am sure the devs can choose which one makes the most sense, in the real world and the technical side,

I highly doubt you are alone in this line of thinking. As it was already stated, the option to choose would only be considered if the visions prove to be 100% equal in performance which is going to require extensive testing in more than just one or two maps.

It's still going to be a solid game.  You just get a more customizable option.  I don't see why one color would perform better than others because they would all essentially do the same thing.  MERCS on the other hand, their visions could be affected by colors.  So definitely not for mercs.  Spies, however, won't benefit from different colors.  It's just a preferance thing.  Like if you were able to pick goggle and opsat colors.  They don't affect gameplay, but it would be nice to have.

mrguytodd

Either way you choose, I don't think it's going to affect how well the player sees through thermal. A lit up red/white merc is still going to stand out very well and will immediately be noticed against a blue/purple background from either contrast or motion. If you ask me, this is more of a style choice than a gameplay choice. Personally, I'm more towards the RGB thermal just because I like the spectrum of colors better than just purple/orange.

also keep in mind that with Videos on the net,   PS needs to be strongly recognizable if ever compared to various other games which we should no longer mention here.

what about a compromise: take the blue-red color scheme, but make hot spots also brighter and cold spots darker.

That is not a compromise. Just pick one or the other. They are different styles.

I really do not like the whole customization thing. Things should always be the same, for multiple reasons. One, is realism. Night vision and thermal have certain settings and colors in real life. Also, I am sure the government agency doesn't let the agents pick their colors.

Second, is the possibility for there to be a difference in gameplay, making one color supreme to another.

There is no reason to have this as an option you can choose. It makes no sense.

Agreed, although i think the thermal shouldnt be so clear. I liked the Thermal vision on DA.
