equipment amount decrease every respawn (and related stuff like mask)

besides fixes in sound, vision modes, gadget balance and netcode, this could be the most interesting change that would make ps superior to ct: not rewarding getting killed with tons of new stuff to spam. the problem for advanced players is that they don't die that regularily so they easily run out of equipment limited by amount (nades, bullets, mines, etc.), whereas aggro fools die more often and get rewarded with with tons of new eq. often in the mid-late game, it is a good idea to voluntarily die (or have your mate kill you) to refill your eq (and especially gas mask!). i also think this is one of the main reasons why hbs > bullets for many advanced players.

so this is my suggestion:
-have spies/mercs spawn with 7 nades/bullets/etc
-every respawn they get 2 less
-make mask a 5th obligatory gadget, and after every respawn you start out with the exact same amount of mask capacity you had left right before dying
(like spekkio suggested to stop the hard-counter guessing game and make it easier to balance smoke/cams/mask)

EDIT: as freeman pointed out to me on xfire, another way to solve this would be to place gadget refill boxes at strategic positions on the map, but i'm still not sure about the ideal properties of those.

Why not just make backpack stock more stuff, like a gas refill few more nades etc?

5 dumbass. There is no such thing as -2 (theoretically there is, but noone proved it).

cause it doesn't solve any of the 2 main eq problems:
-running out of eq/getting rewarded for dying
-hard counters creating guessing games

people, this topic is important. don't spam it if you didn't think through your input.

I wouldnt mind it, but a better system would be:

after first death: less gadgets
after second death: full gadgets

The chances you take when dying for the second time on purpose make up for the full gadgets.
Of course, if you die a third time, you're out of the game.

dying should always be a bad thing, no matter if it's the first or second time, no matter if it's by accident, superior move of the opponent or voluntary suicide. my suggestion mainly deals with aggro spies and mercs suiciding for mask, while making stuff with a limited amount more appealing for pros. your suggestion is kinda inconsistent and is only a solution for a very small part of the problem.

I was messing around cock nugget. Ofcourse you can't have -2 grenades....

I dont see why one should be penalized and lose gadgets for dying, and then gain gadgets for dying. It also ruins balance during the game. I could understand that people want things different in PS, but lets at least have them make sense.

We could make it some Pro-mode for it (which can be specified server side), though, I would like to see other peopel discussing since it isn't really running hot now (neather do I like the idea).

What about a strategically placed gadget refil box. Atleast that means to get gadgets you may have to compromise securing one of the objectives? Makes more sense to me.

It may be awesome for people that aggro a lot (as some sort of protection, aggro checks maybe?), but it would suck for people playing seriously trying to counter the merc as less as possible (seeing it from the spy side).

If it were me, I would leave a server right away if the cut off my gadget amounts each time I die.

I think we should have ammo refill boxes, but they should have a limit. Instead of acting like an unlimited ammo refill, the box should loose a "refill point" each time it's used (this will also make mercs look for other boxes, in case one runs out of ammo).

More specifically you could make the box loose a type of gadget/weapon when it's refilled. Eg. When you refill frags, the box will lower the amount of frags left in one box. In case you refill ammo, it will loose ammo.
